It's always been there afaik (turn on showdead in your profile) but @dang (and crew?) are pretty good about nipping it afaik.
- gus_massa 3y agoI agree. They posted similar spam from another account that seams to be baned, and now they created a new account. It looks like all commets are killed now. Just flag the comments, enough flags kills the comments. If there are too many spam comments, or they are too anoying, or something, you can send an email to the mods hn@ycombinator.com (include a link to coment or user, to make dang's work easier)
- solardev 3y agoWhat is Akismet?
- withinboredom 3y agoAn API that you send comments and it tells you if it is spam or not (free for personal use and low traffic commercial sites IIRC). It is the spam-catching-backend for WordPress sites and many other forums -- like discourse, I think -- (so they have a really, really good idea of what spam looks like across billions of sites).
- solardev 3y agoAhh, right, thanks for the reminder! I thought that sounded familiar from somewhere.
