This one drives me crazy, but I like Letter Boxed <https://www.nytimes.com/puzzles/letter-boxed https://www.nytimes.com/puzzles/letter-boxed> and have been trying to study the algorithm in order to know how to generate my own puzzles. As best I can tell it has a lot to do with the placement of vowels and then grouping common 2-grams on the same side ([A, T, H]) so one can't readily play A-T or T-H parts
I haven't been tracking their answers for very long, but it also seems they post a lot of two word solutions, so it's possible the puzzles are generated from those two words and then they just set the upper limit for the website based on some other heuristic (since it's not always 4 words, or 5)
