According to the book Outliers it's Deliberate practice. Which basically means to practice your skill continuously until you master it. Your goal is to practice but as you practice you pick harder and harder goals. Practicing what you can do is not enough you have to pick harder parts of your skill until you become a master.
There's also grit. Which means never ending dedication even through difficult times. It basically means that becoming better is your primary goal in life. Everything is secondary to you improving your skills in your life.
