Yes, I’ve had my 10000 hours of coding.
I know it hurts somoeone’s feelings, but the truth is python was created in 80s as a scripting language for average Joe, with 80s mentality that is still there.
Here is just one tiny tip of the iceberg of terrible features of it that makes it a poor choice for any big software

For historical, business reasons and because average data scientist, math student are far from being a professional software developer (and also because pythonists downvote and cancel all criticism haha) it is widely popular in AI and scientific community. And rightfully so.
- paulcole 3y agoI mean this is what people always say. My work = professional demanding work. Your work = amateur hour clown show. You really don’t think people can do professional demanding work successfully with Python? Or are you aware that professional demanding work is done by people who aren’t you?
- aristofun 3y agoAnything can be done by anyone using anything. You’re off the point with your generalizations. The point is that python as a language has plenty of problems, I merely pointed out the reasons for some of them.
- paulcole 3y agoNo, you pointed out that Python was poorly designed for professional demanding work, using your own definition of demanding professional demanding work to make a broadly sweeping generalization.
- aristofun 3y agoThose are facts, like it or not. A) python was designed as a scripting language available to advanced users (something far away from professional work) B) whatever definition you take today - it’s obviously far away from whatever was considered a professional work back in late 80s: different types of challenges, different magnitudes of complexity, different standards and business environment.
- paulcole 3y agoI still have yet to understand what you mean by “professional demanding work” other than you consider the work you do to be “professional demanding work.” I work in marketing and used Python very effectively yesterday. Is that not professional demanding work?
- aristofun 3y agoI mean developing commercial software, software for money, software solving complex business tasks. For example gmail, or itunes desktop app, or app server, or any mobile app.
