Web archive user's $14k BigQuery bill shock running queries on free dataset
- elmerfud 3y agoAbusive user got an abusive bill. Sorry I don't feel bad they didn't read and understand the terms of service. The simple fact that this user believed it was free and that it was okay for them to process 2.5 petabytes of data because it was free, and why the hell not just abused the shit out of it because they think its it's free and it never dawned on them that it might not be, especially when they decide to process 2.5 petabytes of data. Well I say good, send them the bill and make them pay. This is exactly why we can't have nice things 99% of the users can play in the sandbox of its 100% free because you're not really abusing the system and doing these super power queries. This guy is going to complain about the bill for processing 2.5 petabytes of data on somebody else's dime and then expect sympathy from me. I got enough hands in my wallet thank you very much.
