About Salient Salient is an applied AI company focussing on auto finance. Our mission at Salient is to automate loan servicing for the largest auto lenders in America. We already conduct over 100k calls per day for payment collection, fraud detection, and dispute resolution, all without human intervention. Our platform leverages more than 10 in-house LLMs and speech diffusion models, combined with a unique architecture, to deliver low-latency, human-like conversations that comply with CFPB and SEC regulations. Our founding team hails from institutions such as Carnegie Mellon and Columbia, and brings a decade of experience from leading companies like Tesla, Airtable, Goldman Sachs, and Dropbox. We've secured a $4M seed round from Y Combinator, Matrix Partners, and General Catalyst, as well as executives at Tesla, Stripe, Brex, and more. The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced engineer to join our founding engineering team. You will work on the cutting edge of AI research in a highly regulated industry. This is an exciting opportunity to shape our company culture and take ownership of brand-new products. As a key member of our team, you will: - Develop greenfield, tech-heavy products for the finance industry - Collaborate closely with co-founders and customers to shape our product roadmap - Contribute to various areas of our startup, pitching in wherever necessary - Take ownership of key projects, ensuring they are completed on time and meet our high-quality standards - Participate in code reviews to maintain a high-quality codebase - Work closely with our product and design teams to create an intuitive and innovative user experience - Help to recruit, mentor, and develop a team of exceptional engineers Requirements - Proven ability to work independently and take initiative in a dynamic environment - A passion for startups and building products from the ground up - Proficiency in Python - At least 2 years of work experience in a fast-paced environment - Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure - Familiarity with modern software development practices and tools - Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail - Preferred: Experience with AI or machine learning technologies - Preferred: Experience in the finance industry or working with consumer data
