I had my time during my embedded days - did a site visit 1000 km away and discovered no wonder the serial port and scanner/printer is going wonky. No shielding, earth - using the crappiest/cheapest PC they could get instead of using the recommended kit as the sales droid wanted a bigger commission. Said call me when you replaced the h/w - I walked out and went to the airport. They never called me.
