Hard disagree: an IDE is a UI that integrates (the "I" in IDE) various development tools such as an editor and compiler with a unifying interface. An editor that wasn't mostly equivalent to its interface would be, well, sed (even ed has a UI). Dog knows I'd love to have all my IDE tools available as CLI scripts, but I'd never do my day to day development that way. All that said, I like the new UI. The top bar with the project/task/branch switcher is just perfect for my workflow, even if the tasks UI could do with a little more attention.
