Upon reading this again I realize that you must not understand what a deficit is. A deficit occurs when you spend more than you make. It is the opposite of a surplus. If you earn $5,000 a month but spend $6,000 a month, you are running a deficit. The U.S. is doing this exact thing, but on a much larger scale.
- nhaehnle 14y agoOut of curiosity, which part of my post made you believe that I do not understand what a deficit is?
- dkrich 14y agoThe fact that you are suggesting that the U.S. should fight to maintain its deficit. You seem to be confused.
- nhaehnle 14y agoFirst, there is no logical contradiction between knowing what a deficit is and thinking that a deficit tends to be beneficial. So it's silly (and, quite frankly, a bit insulting) of you to conclude that I don't know what a deficit even is. Second, I am not suggesting that the US federal government should fight to maintain its budget deficit. It's just that given the current state of things, a budget deficit is a natural and healthy outcome if you want a healthy economy.
