British nuclear missile 'misfires and crashes into ocean'
- Qem 3y ago> The Ministry of Defence confirmed an “anomaly” that was “event specific” occurred during the test off the coast of Florida, but refused to provide further information on the grounds of national security. Shouldn't fishing be stopped there for some time? How many plutonium particles should we expect being ingested by fish, in case it fizzled?
- philipkglass 3y agoTest launches are conducted with "dummy" warheads that contain no plutonium or other active nuclear materials. There haven't been any missile tests with live nuclear warheads since the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty of 1963: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partial_Nuclear_Test_Ban_Treaty https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partial_Nuclear_Test_Ban_Treat...
- tekla 3y agoDo you really think they're firing actual warheads for a test? And also bad article, the test failed because the dummy warhead gave bad data to the computer, and computer failsafed and shut down https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/21/europe/trident-missile-uk-failure-intl/index.html https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/21/europe/trident-missile-uk-fai...
- okasaki 3y agoWhat's bad about it? What if a real warhead gave bad data to the computer?
