Sure, true. But I would bet that, whatever the country, a pile of people at every large company are trying to monitor the maximum amount of your activity they can without breaking the law. You used the word "invasive" -- that's of course an ambiguous phrase to the common person, but it's not going to ambiguous to the security/fraud group at a big company. They will know that they can do X but not Y, and they will do the most of X that they can.
