Saw this lack week and frankly I don't know why it's getting attention. Alright, I suppose I do actually. Its right up there with Fermi paradox papers wrt the number of wide and wild assumptions required to justify a dramatic headline and clickbait-ha-ha measurement like "one elephant." It's a reasonable hypothesis, but despite the drama, this sort of thing has no predictive power in our actual universe. Only one where those assumptions all hold. Could be ours. Probably not though.
