Brightest black hole ever discovered devours a sun's-worth of matter every day
- klysm 3y agoSuch scales are completely incomprehensible to me
- blackoil 3y agoYeah, if I try to understand billions of galaxies with millions of stars and objects millions times brighter than sun and dark matter and all of this starting from singularity. Sometimes feel like let's give up and accept easier explanation, God did it all.
- steve_adams_86 3y agoIt reminds me of Battlestar Galactica, when Cavil is talking about resenting being put into a human body: > I don't want to be human. I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can't even express these things properly, because I have to -- I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid, limiting spoken language, but I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws, and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I'm a machine, and I can know much more, I could experience so much more, but I'm trapped in this absurd body. And why? Because my five creators thought that God wanted it that way. Not only is the scale impossible to imagine, but... The sheer physical magnitude, the depth and breadth of it all, and how astoundingly little we can understand or even perceive of all of it... It's very humbling.
- whobre 3y agoBrightest black hole?
- blackoil 3y agoThey are sloppy eaters. Throwing stuff around while trying to eat as quickly as possible.
