I don't trust Microsoft as far as I can throw them collectively but it doesn't come as a surprise to me that they are doing this any more than it would if I were to hear that OpenAI, Google, etc... are engaging in this behavior.
That's not to excuse it, however. I think it's already time they all implemented a privacy stance where they are only allowed to view chat conversations if the user gives them explicit and revokable permission.
