- silverquiet 3y agoFinancial independence is the ultimate freedom; it's why everyone wants to be rich basically. Spouses can go either way on being dependents, children are more of the issue. Certainly equity in a house is a good thing, but getting onto the housing ladder gets ever harder and mortgage/taxes need to be continually serviced.
