at the moment I would be curious when an educated-on-the-matter person's opinion was best guess on when NVIDIA's competition will catch up

  AMD already released their MI300X which is objectively better than NVIDIA's offerings. Just a matter of time for adoption and integration.

  Probably ~3-4 years as Apple, AMD, and Google/AWS ramp up their GPUs/custom accelerators.

        I wouldn't guess, I am definitely certain that both Groq and Graphcore will be bought out soon.

        My cloud notebook provider just notified me that they'll stop supporting graphcore's IPUs. I was wondering if that is because nobody is using them, or for other reasons.

  2030 Nvidia will have mainstream competitors in the cloud space. Amazon especially hates writing checks to anyone that also isn’t Amazon.
