Why companies are leaving the cloud

- alex_lav 3y agoSave you a click: cost.
- phone8675309 3y agoYou mean eternally renting servers, paying out the nose for bandwidth, and being gouged for storage is a money-losing strategy????
- simfree 3y agoMeanwhile, you also get to contend with noisy neighbors causing the CPU steal, exhausting disk, ram & network I/O, and similar depredations, all while being at the mercy of a help desk that is often less responsive than a server you control yourself. Or you can pay significantly less and get way more dedicated resources if your amenable to a monthly billing model and not using the ability to scale way up and scale way down to control infrastructure costs in the cloud.
- notnmeyer 3y agoi’m playing 4d chess and i’ll wait until every one else goes back to managing shit in data centers and then reap the cost benefits of a cloud market where supply exceeds demand!
- Clubber 3y agoYou can get dirt cheap rack servers on eBay now since everyone moved to the cloud. I'm appreciating the current position in the cycle.
- jjjjj55555 3y agoLooks like migrating to/from the cloud is going to come and go in cycles like offshoring.
