Pedant's note: To 'handle with kid gloves' refers to an especially soft and delicate type of leather ('kidskin', from an original and now archaic sense of 'kid' meaning a young goat), and as a figure describes especially gentle or deferential treatment.
- projektfu 3y agoSeems like that might be one interpretation. Instead of denying service, say we don't give influencers money for reviews and make sure he has nothing to complain about, even if he has nothing to gush about. Then a shitty review would be obviously because of the lack of payola.
- slowmovintarget 3y agoNo, they wouldn't want other airlines giving him extra nice service, they'd want other airlines treating him as toxic. Which is not the meaning of "kid gloves."
- anigbrowl 3y agoProjektfu's interpretation is what I had in mind, actually. Some airlines might prefer to avoid conflict by treating the guy as delicately as possible. I don't know what the thoughts of the Timorese airline are.
- throwanem 3y agoYeah. You can show influencers as hard a hand as you like, for all of me; I'm only here to clarify that "kid gloves" reads as if to ask for showing them a soft one.
- throwanem 3y agoI'm not really sure why an East Timorese regional airline needs to give a damn what an American Youtuber thinks or says. Pretty sure this guy's audience is not the market they're playing to.
