- BirdieNZ 3y ago485m² of land in one of the highest-income urban areas in the world is for rich people only, yeah.
- jahewson 3y agoNot even top 25 in the US. Median household income in Berkeley, CA is $97,834.
- lmm 3y agoBerkely is in the San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward MSA, which had the fourth-highest per-capita income on the 2010 US census and is likely to place higher on the more recent one. It's absolutely one of the highest-income metropolitan areas in the world.
- jeffbee 3y agoIn addition, looking a college town median income is a demographic anomaly. There are 50000 people at the University with zero income. If you look at prime-earning-age householders in the Census, Berkeley is way off the scale.
- pfannkuchen 3y agoI feel like Bay Area rich people don’t really live in Berkeley. Maybe they used to?
- TaylorAlexander 3y ago> Just how insane is the cost of living in Berkeley? It’s very high.

"Berkeley's housing expenses are 198% higher than the national average and the utility prices are 30% higher than the national average. Transportation expenses like bus fares and gas prices are 34% higher than the national average."
