they do know how to make rootkits
- tonetegeatinst 3y agoCan I get the source for that? And any sourcecode + how they legally got away with it in court?

- nemomarx 3y agohttps://arstechnica.com/uncategorized/2005/11/5514-2/ https://arstechnica.com/uncategorized/2005/11/5514-2/ it's a pretty old story at this point but you can start from here?
- causality0 3y agoWhy would you expect them to get in legal trouble? As long as it's covered in the EULA software can do whatever it wants to your computer.
- boomboomsubban 3y agoTheir rootkit famously installed even if you rejected the EULA, so they did get in trouble. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_BMG_copy_protection_rootkit_scandal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_BMG_copy_protection_rootk...
- BiteCode_dev 3y agoIt's sad that those stories get forgotten. Like IE6, or Microsoft bullying and corruption. HP conning users with their printers. Apple iphone home button scandal. It just means bad actors can abuse clients again and again, and with a little PR and some time passing, they can get billions in without consequences.
- mortenjorck 3y agoGiven that the last one they shipped was 19 years ago, I’m not sure that expertise still exists in-house.
