Yes you should!!
Rhetoric and persuasion is an art, and I love it!
I read a lot of ancient literature (that’s admittedly been translated to modern English). Cicero is who I’m most familiar with and from informally studying some of his stuff I learned about things like logos (rational argumentation), ethos (argument based on character) and pathos (arguments based on emotional appeal) and if you pay attention to politicians, you can sometimes see this stuff coming through, but it’s not just about what arguments are based on, but also the order in which they deliver their arguments, and the structure of the language etc…
What I think is particularly important about knowing this stuff, is that it’s easier to call bullshit on an argument if you understand better how it’s been constructed. I think understanding the art of persuasion is also a tool in being able to analyse other people’s arguments more critically. That’s just my personal opinion though.

I used to feel that way, too, but what I found was that as soon as you understand how modern enthymemes are constructed, you just get annoyed by how much copywriting style (eg TFA) has metastasised throughout the online world. (it's not just rose-coloured nostalgia on my part; https://olduse.net https://olduse.net proves that we used to sound like normal people)
