- ruined 3y agohonestly, if unions weren't regulated, i suspect they'd be a lot more powerful. note that the NLRB was established directly in response to decades of labor insurgency. a major compromise of the new deal was forcing employers to cease armed conflict with unions. the bar for recognition was very high, but the most powerful unions easily passed it, and legitimacy led to recuperation.
- FooBarBizBazz 3y ago> labor insurgency > armed conflict with unions The only semi-organized groups with weapons are now wackjob "militias" who think the biggest threat comes from random people hiking up from Venezuela, rather than from the organized fuckery of Jeff Bezos et al. This is a problem. Nobody looks at an AR-15 and thinks, "this machine kills fascists", or, more relevantly, "this machine kills billionaires". You can't safely attend your city's Super Bowl parade, but they can sleep just fine in Atherton and on (recently-depopulated) Maui. The fuckery will continue so long as that's the case. Let's contrast with when Labor did gain some power. During the Homestead Strike, Pinkertons cowered in a barge for at least a day under a hail of bullets. It's estimated that, in the Battle of Blair Mountain, over a million rounds were fired, and the capitalists brought in a goddamn air force (which dropped both conventional bombs and poison gas). > Gatling guns and machine guns were employed by both sides https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Blair_Mountain https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Blair_Mountain Can you imagine a 2024-era "leftist" with a machine gun? I can't. Which could be one reason Jeff Bezos is able to have his way with you.

- ChrisArchitect 3y agoDamn right. Until ppl stop
- jjulius 3y agoThe point was that your very comment was a dupe - the very "problem" you take issue with. And that's definitely not your first time (with both submissions and comments). Nobody's perfect, right? Not you, or the people you constantly correct - there is no "until ppl stop" because shit happens, and mistakes can be made in spite of best intentions. The heat death of the universe will occur before duplicate posts on the internet cease to be a thing. I don't have an issue with people pointing out dupes, but when a single person does so so militantly while making the same mistake themselves somewhat often, it's like... let the mods mod.
- ChrisArchitect 3y agoMost of the time no mistake. It's because ppl are ignoring someone else's previous note about it being a dupe or where the convo is and just upvoting and commenting. I'm marking it by saying dupe. They are out of control on here sometimes. Anyways noted, thx.
- jjulius 3y ago>Most of the time no mistake. For what it's worth, I just found at least three more from you in the past ~9 days.
- AndrewKemendo 3y agoI think this keeps “duping” because it keeps falling off the front page and it doesn’t feel like an accident This could be pure coincidence but I personally think this is a topic that we should be spending a lot of time and energy discussing and frankly figuring out how to prevent
