Cadence bought OrCAD and kept the schematic editor but the layout is Allegro, not the layout tool that historically was part of OrCAD. Allegro IMO does have a pretty steep learning curve, I think it's UI is quite archaic, it really hasn't see any serious improvements in over 20-years. I'd suggest Kicad if you wanted to do anything personal.
