I'm no expert on this, but seems like this information can be used for or against candidates. There's a reason applications don't ask your age or religion - these are protected categories. Collecting it at all just opens you up to use of it in hiring discrimination. Sexual orientation has been protected against employment discrimination since at least 2020 in the US. Typically this is benign and they collect it just cuz', but that's not a clever idea.
