Android's market share inside the United States is 42%. Globally, Android's market share is 70%. I don't think it's accurate to generalize that "people" don't want to use Android. Both platforms seem to have their pros and cons, like any comparable competing products. I think the conversation around side loading and store royalties on iOS has more to do with who owns the hardware, and what the user is permitted to do by the manufacturer.
