[1] There are social contexts where clarity of statement and lucidity of thought *are not* among the tools/objectives of an encounter/interaction. But in debate or education or in any other case where clear words and ideas are indeed among the tools/objectives, avoiding them or undermining them is being a different kind of jerk.
