On a couple of occasions (at-least) I got such an ear-bashing from the owner of a magazine shop for standing there and reading the computer magazines. On the second occasion, I summoned the small amount of courage that I had and explained that I was reading to determine if I wanted to buy the magazine for the listings, and that there was no way I was able to memorise them (not entirely true, but somewhat true).
I miss the magazines - somehow, the always on, everything you want nature of the modern internet can't compete with the thrill of getting a magazine once a month and reading and re-reading it cover to cover. Even the advertisements were interesting once you had read everything else two or three times!
