A bad scenario is the public school teacher path: they need better marketing and should be paid on par with the congressman, senators, and other highly paid politicians in government.
- ipaddr 3y agoWould you end up with money seekers like failed politicians?
- mc32 3y agoWe need normal schools that teach teachers like we used to. There are teachers who know less math than students and speak less than perfect English. If you’re a teacher you should have some basic competency thresholds.
- SteveGerencser 3y agoMy wife (engineer) taught a class called 'Math for Teachers', which was designed to teach elementary school teachers basic math. Not how to teach it, just how to do basic math themselves. A significant number should have failed that class but the administration refused to allow her to fail teachers who were failing for 'reasons'. She quit the job.
- mc32 3y agoAbsolutely what I observed as well with SF school teachers. Some were good and knew basic math and basic grade school English but a good number spoke and wrote like dropouts.
- bongodongobob 3y agoNo, because teaching is fucking hard. You aren't accumulating power. And you actually have to show up every day. Being a teacher is probably the opposite of being a politician.
