- marssaxman 3y agoOpponents of gun control in the US sometimes talk about "hoplophobia", defined as an irrational fear of firearms; while this originally struck me as a fanciful way of mocking one's political oponents, watching UK culture spend the last few years developing a debilitating, unreasonable paranoia over knives makes me think there may be something to the idea.
