- andyjohnson0 3y ago> never forget Honestly I'm pretty much over this now and ready to move on with my life :p There are plenty of good rss readers out there - many of them created because Google left the space. I think that this diversity and decentralisation is a net positive for the world.
- acdha 3y agoYou’re right on that last point: Reader was nice for the community scale but most of the feed readers I’ve used have more and better features – Google never treated Reader better than the proverbial red-headed stepchild and it was on life support for years before the end. I would reframe that “never forget” advice to something along the lines of “never forget that corporations do not care about you” – Google had a reputation for being different and a lot of us believed that to some extent; sacrificing Reader trying to make people use Google+ was a watershed moment when a lot of people had to accept that their loyalty wasn’t reciprocated.
