Georgia was smarter in my opinion. The situations are not really comparable, given that Russia's designs on Ukraine are very different. Categorically different in fact. Perhaps in the years 2014-2022 they were somewhat comparable (when Russia was more or less trying to keep Ukraine in an extended "punishment box"). But definitely not since.
