Dutch speakers often fall into the trap of equating the terms ‘university’ and ‘universiteit’. Since the English language does not differentiate between the terms ‘hogeschool’ and ‘universiteit’, it is appropriate for both to translate into ‘university’. (And then, of course, there’s also the term ‘volksuniversiteit’…)
