I think HN automatically imposes a limit on how much furthur down a comment chain an existing participant can comment in, to prevent heated discussions. So while I, somebody who hasn't commented till now, can reply to the reply to your comment just fine, you, somebody who has commented previously, cannot. Hope that clears it up, I don't think your account is shadow banned.
