Lots of software is fun. Games are great. So is music. You're probably
unaware of my contributions in both these fields, and that's okay
because the world moves on.
But the author of the piece is clearly talking about "in production"
as public-facing code with real implications to real people's lives.
With scenarios like Boeing and Fujitsu Horizon popping up there's also
a need for "grown up" software engineering. I don't think encouraging
people into reckless development methodologies helps here.
There's still room for lots of fun, if you also know when it's time to
be serious.
