"Early signs of collapse" = Maybe weakening. It's reckless and unhelpful to shout the sky is falling without it actually falling due to alarm fatigue and credibility loss.
If catastrophic collapse were to happen (it is not) would result in the following effects:
- US east coast: Stronger storms and higher sea levels
- Western Europe: Less rain but stronger storms*, temperature decrease 0.15-0.3 ℃/y, and agricultural output decline
- Atlantic seafood production: Probable reduction to collapse
- Anthropogenic reversibility: Unlikely on a century timescale
- Not: apocalypse or an ice age
* Effects stack with Arctic polar vortex (polar jet stream) volatility due to the reduction in Arctic sea ice
