ChatGPT knows things that Google doesn't
- joks 3y agoI feel like option 3 (ChatGPT is hallucinating the quote) is by far the most likely thing here. Voltaire is probably one of the top 5 targets of "fake quotes" out there, and ChatGPT is really really good at hallucinating highly likely answers (regardless of their actual truth.)

It was >I want my lawyer, my tailor, my servants, even my wife to believe in God, because it means that I shall be cheated and robbed and cuckolded less often. … If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him So ChatGPT didn't hallucinate the answer 100%, but it wasn't able to remember where they read it.
