This is a very fun thing to do, unfortunately where I work (France), the HR team send out weekly/monthly emails with somes HR updates, and at the end the list of everyone who is hired (this includes conctractors), and everyone who leaves (resigned or fired), so it would not add any information to run LDAP searches and dumps/diffs. It's always kinda stressful to open this email and find out if one colleague you liked has decided to leave, but most times, this colleague informed you before the email arrives.
