I have an honest question as I know nothing of the subject: Were the Ukrainian children native Russian speakers or is Ukrainian so close to Russian?
- sschueller 3y agoDon't at least 30% of Ukrainians speak Russian as their primary language?
- jhbadger 3y agoIn Soviet times people would be posted to places throughout the Soviet Union as the authorities saw fit to fill a position, so you would get Russians in Ukraine, Uzbeks in Armenia, etc. In post-Soviet times some people have assimilated into the local culture and others haven't.
