- Narrow the list to 1-3 companies you are most excited about
- Contribute to their open source project. Be consistent and contribute high quality stuff.
- After 3-6 weeks email the founders asking if they are hiring. You have a very high shot of getting hired.
- In Parallel keep applying to other companies and mention your open source experience

- kungfupawnda 3y agoBeing a devil's advocate, why would you hire someone when they are already doing the work for free?
- yellow_lead 3y agoSo you don't stop, or so that you do it more.
- janosdebugs 3y agoBecause someone working on something on the side will be much less efficient than someone working full time. If that certain someone is contributing good stuff, you want to make sure their incentives are aligned with your interests.
