- necovek 3y agoEVs are relatively new in the market (other than Teslas), we'll probably need another 10 years for their prices to "normalize" according to market dynamics.
- PeterStuer 3y agoHow do you evaluate the battery on a used EV? What would be the things to watch out for? Is it self reporting? Is it all mitigated through manufacturer guarantees?
- simfree 3y agoBattery cycles, number of cycles that dipped below 20%, State of Health, how many cells are out of balance and by how much (this stat is what causes full pack rebuilds) and total kWh charged and discharged. It's fairly easy to plug in a Bluetooth OBD2 reader, open up AlfaOBD and see how damaged (or undamaged) a car's battery is.
- Ekaros 3y agoWill they be offered with some sort of battery warranty/insurance. So if one ends damaged battery it will be fully covered. As prices for replacement seem too high...
- fcvarela 3y agoID.5 listed as least depreciating. Mine was 55k new less than a year ago and it’s worth 30k. Definitely not the 10% mentioned in the article.
- Saris 3y agoI just don't understand how I would ever get an EV serviced, the small mechanic shops around me don't (or can't due to expensive manufacturer tools) really work on EVs. And I don't know how much I can do myself without manufacturer tools. Plus the service costs just seem very high in general. I can do all the work on my 4runner with a couple tools and parts are generally very cheap as well.
