UK is currently scanning the text on protest banners, utilising facial recognition to identify protestors, and doxxing those people via social media accounts ran by the police. No need for the CCP to export anything, Western democracies doing surveillance state perfectly well on its own
- rrr_oh_man 3y agoThat being said: Kazakhstan is importing China's digital surveillance wholesale. Turkey is taking some note, too.
- smoldesu 3y agoSure, but that's not really what the article is talking about. Western intelligence tools can be (and are) exported to allied nations. China's same tools are organization-oriented and only function well in the context of an autocracy.
