One other reason to add that I haven't seen mentioned yet: I'm waiting on solid state batteries. They solve pretty much all the limitations of the current battery tech (temperature issues, charge times, max charge cycles / battery degradation). Whenever EVs with solid state batteries start rolling out the value of vehicles with legacy (current) battery tech will just absolutely plummet. I would also hate to drop tens of thousands of dollars on a vehicle that's vastly inferior to the next gen offerings. I buy cars for life so I don't want to trade up to the latest thing when it becomes available, I want to buy something great to begin with.
