It's a shame it is toxic at all; the stuff is so damn plentiful and useful. That said, I think the dangers are poorly understood by the public. It's not radioactive, it just gets into your lungs if you handle it too much. That makes it too toxic for most uses, but I have to imagine there are still some where it can be safely applied.
