I thought RustPython is what Ironpython become after being abandoned for a while.
- Induane 3y agoI feel smart because I got your very funny joke. Silliness aside, I actually had almost the same thought when I was reading the post lol. Great minds think for themselves so I guess maybe we're only really good minds then. Ahh well....
- paulddraper 3y agoHa ha. For those interested, Iron* is .NET. IronPython IronRuby IronJS
- estebank 3y agoJust wait until we get IronRust through a clr rustc backend :)
- kaanyalova 3y agoYou don't need to wait https://github.com/FractalFir/rustc_codegen_clr https://github.com/FractalFir/rustc_codegen_clr
- 0x457 3y agoThis is different. This is a backend for rustc that emits CLR instead of LLVM IR. Iron* were full .NET implementation of those runtimes. It had things like using .Net (C#) types to implement Iron* types (e.g. implement ruby's Hash with C#'s Dictionary). This is actually why none of these Iron* things took off: they were often slower than official implementations.
- antod 3y agoI thought it was renamed after Oxide picked up the sponsorship.
