Phone isn't listening to you: The tech myth has spread far and wide
- 1vuio0pswjnm7 3y agoThe reason this "myth" exists is not because a so-called "tech" company is listening. That is difficult to prove (or disprove). The "myth" exists because it is possible for a so-called "tech" company to listen. The reason people imagine that the company is listening is because it could in fact be listening. And it could do so without the computer owner ever discovering the audio surveillance. What's funny is that the advertising-related manipulation of what the computer user sees on their screen is so personalised that a computer owner could start to believe that the so-called "tech" company is listening. These so-called "tech" companies do not announce to the computer owner how much data they are collecting or what they have collected. They may as well be collecting audio data without notifying the computer owner. The data collection they perform is intentionally outside the computer owner's awareness.
