While I love MySQL for a variety of reasons (and think it's legitimately better for certain features – tangential to your point, being able to ORDER BY in a DELETE is great), its lax GROUP BY option isn't really a great idea in terms of correctness. You can emulate it in Postgres with DISTINCT ON if desired, and as long as you also ORDER BY something that makes sense for your query, it should work similarly.
