Databases have had their storage and compute together for as long as i remember. It's changing now, though, in a good way. TiDB, YDB, SurrealDB, singlestore, etc is changing that. I am looking forward to a seamless way to move data from hot to cold. For PG, timescale does that, but only for their cloud offering.
