I am sometimes amazed at how difficult programming was in the fifties and sixties. I think the Gamma 60 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull_Gamma_60 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull_Gamma_60) takes the cake. It was basically like programming an Itanium with punchcards.
