Nice article! The hand-annotated code chart reminded me how 1989's LPMUD from Sweden wrote the author's name as "Lars Pensj|" since "Pensjö" couldn't be done in 7-bit ASCII. I guess it would've been "Pensj@" in EBCDIC.
