This always reminds me of that time I submitted an absolutely awful physics lab report and was incredulous because I had written it in LaTeX and it looked nicely typeset. I'm not accusing this guy's notes of being bad, but I definitely think it is a strange "optimisation" when pen and paper exist. It's not like you're going to stop using pen and paper in grad school either. That said, by the end of my physics degree I'd probably used thousands of sheets of paper...
